Embrace the Crazy

Life Lately

Oh my. Stephen got a job!!! We are very excited and grateful. He has been working with this company for over a month and he finally accepted an offer this past week. Whew.

This, of course, means the house hunt has begun. In theory, house hunting is fun. And looking at house pics on Zillow is one of my favorite pastimes. However, in person, house hunting is a little less glam. Houses that look fantastic online can be less than ideal IRL. Not to mention, two people are buying one house—conflict is inevitable. We shall see how this all plays out.

Life Lessons: Embrace the crazy

This week we stopped in Savannah for an afternoon. We were all a little behind on sleep and the kids were getting over a cold. Stephen and I got flustered looking for parking and getting the stroller put together on a busy street. Monica got antsy at the restaurant and was continually trying to evacuate her chair. Then we went walking around and Monica became increasingly upset that we wouldn’t allow her push the stroller around. Needless to say, a tantrum ensued and stress levels were high.

Every time we go out and some sort of drama comes about, I question whether or not we should have gone anywhere to begin with. Wouldn’t it just be easier if we just stayed home? Yes and no. Logistically it is easier to stay home than to go out with kids. But if you’re someone who likes to go out to restaurants, museums, shops, or just to walk around, staying home all the time can feel even harder.

I’ve decided that a little crazy is just the name of the game when it comes to life with kids. Yes you can create systems and habits that help you manage the variables, but at the end of the day little people are just somewhat unpredictable and they don’t quite know how to ‘human’ yet. So we teach them. We go out, we push through the awkward/stressful/downright painful moments and we keep doing it until it gets easier, because it will. They will get older, we will learn, and everyone will adapt. And for now, we embrace the crazy.
