Life Lately
And we wait. And wait some more. And STILL WAIT EVEN MORE. We have been in the waiting game on the job front for almost a month now. We are supposed to get good news this week…but we will see.
On the bright side, we are going to look at houses! (For real this time because last week we had a fakeout in that department). We have been casually perusing Zillow since September in the area we are interested in moving to. Obviously, we can’t pull the trigger until the job piece is figured out. However, we are hopeful that will be any day now so we thought it could be good to check some properties out so we can make an offer sooner rather than later.
Stephen is officially on terminal leave. Having him home has been helpful and fun. Monica has made some big strides in potty training. Things are looking up.

Life Lessons: Become the person
I’m going to guess that you have some goals. Maybe you haven’t thought about it too much lately or written them down or voiced them out loud, but I would bet if you sat down and considered for a few minutes you would come up with some things you want to accomplish.
Even if they are things that are seemingly not grandiose, like having a home you love, or a wardrobe that fits super well, or becoming a better cook, or working out more, or starting some sort of business. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been working toward some goals of my own. Although I have made progress, I wouldn’t say I’ve ‘made it’ in all the ways I would like. This can feel very frustrating when you are working toward something, putting in good time and effort, and not seeing the results you hoped for. I have to admit there are times when I am overwhelmed by discouragement. A mind shift that helped me a lot came from Jen Fulwiler. In one of her recent podcast episodes, she said that it wasn’t necessarily about getting the metaphorical gold medal—it’s about becoming the kind of person who could.
This is a game-changer. Instead of just thinking about the end goal, focus on the strategies, habits, mindsets, etc. that the kind of person who wants to achieve what you want to achieve would adopt. This gives you a feeling of control and will change you into the person who has done what you want to do. Even if you don’t get the gold medal, you will be the kind of person who could have won one. In other words, you will have changed for the better, gained new skills, and improved your life in the process—and this is priceless.
Info & Inspo
- LOVED this episode from the Art of Manliness podcast about happiness. Definitely worth a listen.
- Ballerina Farm’s insta just feels like a breath of fresh air to me these days.
- This episode of Morning Wire was incredible. It totally hit the nail on the head re: parenting today and why people aren’t wanting to have families anymore.

I hope this week is a fun one.
