My Top Maternity Wardrobe Picks

As you may already know, I am a big advocate of helping women look and feel their best—especially during the TOUGH season of pregnancy.

While part of this is certainly more psychological/emotional than physical, it would be a straight-up lie to say that physical products don’t help. For this pregnancy, I had a small capsule wardrobe of pieces that were specifically ‘maternity.’ Other than that, I found dresses or tops that I could wear in a size (or two) up. I prefer this strategy as it is less limiting and easy to find attractive pieces second-hand.

While it can be painful to spend money on something you know is temporary, I found that investing in a few products to help me through these nine months made a big difference between my first and second pregnancies. That being said, here were my go-to’s during the last nine months!

MATERNITY WARDROBE FAVES

Everlane ‘Easy’ pants: these are not maternity and I wore them constantly before my pregnancy too. However, for the first trimester, they were perfect because of the elastic waistband and how comfortable they are. I also think they are so chic! I am excited to wear them post-partum as well.

Lake Pima Shorts Set: these are so comfortable and fit me my whole pregnancy. Putting them on was something I looked forward to every night. And they have SO many cute options.

This Amazon dress: I got this early in the second trimester and wore it a lot. It fit well and I loved the hot pink color option. It was easy to dress up or down and photographed well which is always a plus!

Nothingfitsbut ‘Niko’ dress: I got it during the last few weeks of pregnancy and wore it multiple times a week. It was so comfortable and looked awesome. During those last few weeks especially when you just feel like a beached whale, I highly recommend having a piece that will help you feel comfortable and beautiful.

J. Crew Factory Striped Midi Dress: Another non-maternity option I wore so much. It was light and comfortable for the hot Summer months and perfect for anything from baby showers to church to an outing downtown. This is also another one I think will be perfect for PPM.

This Amazon Skirt + Top Set: I bought this outfit for a wedding and ended up wearing it a ton. I love the color and it was such a fun option for any occasion I wanted to dress up for. I wore the skirt with various tops I had as well as the outfit as a set.

These Pea in a Pod denim shorts: I have yet to find a pair of maternity pants I like. This hasn’t been a huge issue thus far as both my pregnancies have taken place largely during the warmer months in hot climates. These shorts were super versatile and looked and felt great during the HOT summer days in FL.

These Amazon shoes: It may seem strange to include shoes in a list of maternity clothes, but as someone who is only 5’1, it really helped to find shoes that had a heel but were also super comfortable. I think I wore these almost every day since the day they arrived on my doorstep. And of course, I can continue to wear them post-baby.

Hopefully, these pieces will give you ideas + inspo for your maternity wardrobe. I have found pregnancy to be so challenging physically + emotionally. I don’t think having a lot of ‘options’ is nearly as important as having a few pieces that you really like. Don’t be discouraged if it takes some trial and error to find what looks good, that was definitely the case for me! But it helped me a lot to stay positive throughout all the ups and downs of pregnancy having clothes that fit and I was actually excited to wear.

In camaraderie,

Miranda Kate
