A midweek breather

Happy Wednesday 🙂

This weekend we had our all saint’s day party! Unfortunately I didn’t take many pictures but it was certainly a fun afternoon.

We didn’t go too big this year, but it was more than last year! We had a couple of families and friends over which was plenty for our little house. We had some food out for people to graze (pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting were a BIG hit) and a few games planned throughout the afternoon. We did saint trivia for adults, a shorter version for the little ones, and a find-the-saint scavenger game for the kids as well (they got to keep whichever saint they found).

Overall it was a good weekend although daylight savings has gotten Monica’s schedule a little out of sorts. (Hopefully we get that figured out sooner rather than later…).

In any case, I hope you had a nice weekend. Here is this week’s lineup!

What has been resonating with me lately:

  • a little flexibility goes a long way in relationships
  • sincerity is an excellent attribute to strive for (& not always easy)
  • productivity is just not the most important thing
  • time well-spent brings peace
  • making space for self-discovery

Where I’ve been finding encouragement:

  • this quote from G.K. Chesterton: “Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly
  • this interview with Louise Perry is highly worth watching. Love that someone in the culture is finally shedding some light on how much the sexual revolution hurt women
  • this piece from Homemaker Hopeful put a smile on my face
  • my daughter, as she learns how to walk and doesn’t let the countless tumbles keep her down

Things I’m excited about:

  • I picked up the Moonflower Monologues and have been loving it. I haven’t much gotten into contemporary poetry before but this work by Tess Guinery has been a beautiful find.
  • I was super excited when I saw that Ascension Press has a new podcast called Catholic Classics. It is with a few of the hosts of Godsplaining (another favorite of mine) and they are going through some of the Catholic classics to helps us read and understand them. I’ve definitely been binge-listening the past week.
  • pumpkin spice coffee from Aldi (love love love).
  • we used these polaroids from January Jane as a party favor and I just think they’re so cool.
  • curtains!!! We finally replaced the blinds in the dining room with some curtains and I can’t get over how much better the room looks. I was a little nervous mixing curtains since our house is open concept but I think it is a huge upgrade from the blinds we had which gave a very not-permanent-home vibe.

That’s it for me this week!

Peace,

Miranda
