When it comes to feast days, October is a *big* one:
- October 1: Thérèse of Lisieux
- October 5: Faustina
- October 15: Teresa of Ávila
- October 22: John Paul the Great
Those are some major players in the Catholic world and if I celebrated each one the way I wanted to, let’s just say nothing else would get done and we would have no money.
BUT!
Tomorrow is Saint Teresa of Ávila’s feast day, so here’s a couple of small things you can do to celebrate this esteemed woman:
- You probably already know that Teresa of Ávila is from Ávila, Spain. SO celebrating with Spanish food and drink seems appropriate, this recipe for authentic Spanish Hot Chocolate looks delicious and I can’t wait to try it.
- Go out for tapas! Or if you’re feeling really ambitious, make your own. I’m making my own rendition of this Spanish Charcuterie board which looks like fun.
- Bake this Spanish Olive Oil Lemon Sponge cake. I can never get enough lemon in my life.
- Make a batch of Sangria. Or just pick up a bottle of Spanish wine at Trader Joe’s!
- Read this sweet article that celebrates this incredible saint.
- Read an excerpt from The Way of Perfection, her Autobiography, or Interior Castle!
- Say one of these beautiful prayers.
- Have some fun watching a Flamenco video.
That’s all for me today. I hope this helps you celebrate Teresa of Ávila!
