Getting ready for deployment has been like having a band-aid pulled off in the slowest, most drawn-out way possible.
Obviously, I don’t want him to leave, but I do just kind of want to get it over with. I know especially the parts of saying ‘goodbye’ and getting used to his absence are going to be painful, and I just wish I was on the other side already! Anticipating what is coming for so long seems to be making this whole process more difficult.
Anyway. It’s crazy that August is almost here! I’ve been thinking a LOT about where God is calling me + how to make space for Him to lead me.
Here’s what has been resonating with me recently:
- there’s a certain complacency in ‘mom culture’ that is a little pessimistic
- we need to be faithful in the little things before God can call us to higher ground (I really want to work on this)
- we need to give God space to work in our lives (space = time + silence + emptiness)
- we are all called to ‘do something beautiful’ with our time & talents
- being a wife & mother do not need to come after or second to career success
Here’s where I’ve been finding encouragement:
- this podcast from Fit Mom Life to the Fullest was inspiring (esp. regarding how we spend our free time)
- this episode of Godsplaining with Leah Darrow has a great take on personal development (one of my favorite things)
- Pruning to Prosper gave me some ideas for saving $$$ during inflation craziness
- love love loving In the School of the Holy Spirit by Jacques Philippe
- quick tips on how to feel more confident
Things I’m excited about this week:
- upcoming travel to see friends & family
- working on my photography skills
- personal retreat starting August 15!!! comment if you want to join 🙂
keep calm and carry on

Yo toxic mommy culture is a real thing and it’s not good!! The whole complaining about your husband and kids and acting like they’re a burden, then trying to repackage it into some weird cutesy “this is REAL mom life” is SO toxic
SO true. I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed this… we definitely need to speak more positively about motherhood
